Water – 2 1/2 cups
Onion – one small onion chopped into pieces
Green or red chillies – 2 cut into pieces or as per your taste
Ginger – 1 tbsp of finely chopped
Curry leaves – few
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Urad dal – 1/2 tsp
chenna dal – 1 tsp

Method

1. Dry roast rava in medium heat till hot and crispy. Heat 2 tbsp of oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add urad dal, chenna dal, green or red chillies and curry leaves.

2. When urad and chenna dal turns into golden brown, add chopped onions, green chillies and ginger. Saute until onions turn transparent.

3. Then add 2 1/2 cups of water, and salt as per your taste. (Usually for one cup of rava you need 1 tsp of salt). When the water starts boiling, reduce the heat and add rava gradually with one hand and keep stirring with your other hand to avoid forming any lumps. If you want add 1 tsp of Ghee while stirring. That would give more flavour to the dish.

4. Keep stirring until the rava absorbs all the water. Turn off the stove and  cover for at least 5 to 7 minutes before serving.
