Rava Dosa is a popular South Indian breakfast recipe. It is thin, crispy and tasty which is prepared by combining rava/semolina and other flours. It is a perfect breakfast recipe which can be served with coconut chutney, onion chutney or any chutney of your choice.
Preparation time – 15 min
Cooking time – 10 min
Soaking time – 25 min
Serves – 4
Ingredients:
Rava/semolina – 1/2 cup
Rice flour – 1/2 cup
Maida – 1/4 cup
Ginger – 1 tsp finely chopped
Green chili – 1 finely chopped
Curry leaves – 5 finely chopped
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Onion – 1/2 cup finely chopped
Buttermilk – 1 cup
Water – 1 1/2 cup
Salt – as per your taste
Oil – required for roasting the dosa
Method:
1. In bowl combine rava, rice flour and maida. Now add in the ginger, green chili, curry leaves and cumin seeds and mix.
2. Add the onions. Add the buttermilk, salt and water and mix well without any lumps. Rest this mixture for 25 min. The rava dosa batter should be watery. (If the batter thickens after soaking add in some water to make it watery otherwise the rava dosa wont be crispy).
3. Heat pan on a medium heat. Pour the batter starting from the edges toward the center of the pan.
4.Drizzle a tsp of oil on top. Let it get crispy on one side. Flip the dosa to the other side and cook just for a minute.
Serve it hot with chutney on the side.
