Malai paneer tikka

Paneer Tikka is a very popular Indian starter. This is a kid’s most favourite dish ever.

Preparation time – 2 hours

Servings -4

Ingredients

Paneer Cubes – 1 Cup
1 small onion cut into cubes.
Curd – 2 tbs (Tie curd in a muslin cloth and hang for at least 2 hours to drain the water completely or you can use the tea strainer too)
Fresh Cream – 2 tbs (optional)
Garam Masala – 1/2 Teaspoon
Pepper Powder – 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1tsp.

 

Method

1. Take the hung curd in a big bowl and beat it until smooth paste. Add ginger-garlic paste, garam masala, pepper powder and salt in it. Mix well for marinade.

2. Add paneer and the onion cubes. Mix gently to coat the paste mixture on the paneer and onion.Let it marinate for 1 hour. You can cover and place them in refrigerator to marinate overnight.

  

3. After an hour, add onion first and alternate with paneer cube on a skewer.Prepare the skewers and keep it ready for grilling. Soaking the skewers in cold water can prevent the edges from burning
4. Preheat the oven at 180 degree. Bake the paneer tikka for 20 mins.

5. Don’t overcook the paneer , it will become rubbery, dry and hard. The paneer should be soft and well cooked. It is better to bake the paneer tikka at lower temperatures for some more time than at higher temperatures.
6. If you don’t have oven or grill, grease little oil on a nonstick pan.Place the skewers on the pan till the paneer is well cooked.
7. Yummy Malai Paneer tikka is all ready to serve with mint or coriander chutney with lemon wedges.
