Paneer Cutlet

Paneer cutlet is a crunchy and tasty snack made with paneer, potato and other spices. It’s a popular snack from the cuisine of North India. It is very soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.

Preparation time – 15 minutes
Cooking time – 20 minutes
Serves – 4

Ingredients

Grated paneer – 2 cups
Potato – 1 medium size boiled and mashed
Onion – 1 small finely chopped
Chili – 2 finely chopped
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp finely chopped
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Chili powder – 1/2 tsp ( optional)
Salt as per your taste
Bread crumbs – 1 cup
Egg – 1 to 2 or two tbs of cornflour
Oil for frying

Method

1. In a bowl mix together all the ingredients except bread crumbs and eggs. Mix well with your hands.

2. Divide the mixture into big lemon sized balls , then flatten it like patties or vada. Beat the eggs in a bowl. If you don’t like eggs, mix cornflour with a little water to make a slightly thick paste. Keep bread crumbs ready. If you don’t have breadcrumbs, you can toast the bread or place it in oven to get crisp and powder it in the mixer.

3. Dip each patty in the beaten egg mixture or liquid cornflour mix and then coat it with bread crumbs on all the sides. Repeat the same for the rest of the cutlets.

4. Heat oil in a deep pan. When oil gets medium hot add the cutlets and fry for few minutes per side and flip gently. Fry till the cutlets gets crispy and brown. Take out the cutlets and drain in a paper towel to remove the excess oil.

5. Serve hot with ketchup or any of your favorite chutneys.

Delicious paneer cutlet is ready. Enjoy with tea or coffee.
