Ribbon Pakoda

Ribbon pakoda is a easy snack preparation which is very famous in Tamil Nadu. This is prepared during Diwali and other festivals. It is also called as ola pakoda/seeval. Great for tea time snack too.

Preparation time – 10 min
Cooking time – 15 min
Serves – 2-4

Ingredients:

Gram flour/Besan – 1 cup
Chili Powder – 1/4 tsp
Black pepper Powder – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 2 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp or as per your taste
Oil – required for frying

Method:

1.In a bowl add in the gram flour/besan, chili powder, black pepper powder, salt and the 2 tsp of oil and mix well. Add water little by little and mix well till it forms a stiff dough. The dough should not be sticky.

2. Heat up oil in a deep pan. Put the ribbon pakoda plate in the murukku press and fill it with the prepared dough. Press the dough in the hot oil and rotate it to form a single layer as shown in the picture. Let it get fried on one side (wait till the bubbles disappear). Now gently flip to the other side and fry it till the bubbles disappear on the other side also as shown in the picture.

3. Drain the fried Ribbon Pakoda in a paper towel to remove the excess oil.
