Plain sev/Omapodi is a crispy and crunchy south Indian snack which is prepared using besan/chick pea flour. It is a very easy snack recipe yet taste delicious and it can be prepared during festive seasons. kids would love this snack and it is very well used as a garnish to all chaat recipes like Katori chaat and others.
Preparation time – 5 min
Cooking time – 10 min
Ingredients:
Besan/Chick pea flour – 1 cup
Salt – required as per taste
Water – required for mixing
Oil – required for deep frying
Preparation:
- In a mixing bowl add in the besan/chick pea flour, required salt and mix well. Add in water little by little and mix well until it forms a soft dough. The dough will be slightly sticky which is normal.
- Now take the muruku plate with the tiny holes and place it in the muruku maker. Slightly grease the muruku maker with little oil so that the dough doesn’t stick.
- Add the dough to the muruku maker and close it. Press and spread the dough into the hot oil in a circular motion.
- Flip it to the other side after a minute and fry well on both the sides. Once the sev is fried drain it on a kitchen paper to remove any excess oil.
- Repeat the same steps for the rest of the dough.
