7 cup Burfi

7 cup burfi which is also called as 7 cup cake is a simple and easy sweet preparation which is prepared using seven ingredients. It tastes very close to traditional mysore pak but it is easy to prepare with minimum ingredients. It tastes delicious and it can be prepared for any kind of festivals and other special occasions.

Preparation time – 5 min
Cooking time – 20 min
Makes – 15

Ingredients:

Besan/Chick pea flour – 1 cup
Coconut – 1 cup
Ghee/clarified butter – 1 cup
Milk – 1 cup
Sugar – 3 cups

Method:

1. Place a kadai on a medium heat and combine all the ingredients ( besan, coconut, ghee, milk and sugar). Mix everything well without any lumps.

2. Keep stirring it constantly on a medium flame. Firstly, the bubbles will start to form and the mixture turns into a thick mass.

3. Keep stirring it constantly on a medium flame until the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan with a porous texture and the color changes slightly. Switch off the stove. (Check the video for the right consistency.

4. Transfer the mixture immediately to a greased tray or a plate and flatten it gently. Let it rest for 10 min. After 10 min, cut them into desired shapes.

Tips:

Besan/Chick pea flour can also be roasted on a medium flame with a tsp of ghee until nice aroma comes and the colour of the besan changes slightly before adding all other ingredients.
