Mysore Bonda is one of the popular snack which is served in most of the restaurants in Southern part of India. These bondas are prepared using maida/all purpose flour, yogurt and few other spices. These fried dumplings are crispy on outside and soft inside. It is a very easy recipe which is perfect for snacks/appetizers and it is usually served with Coconut chutney, but it goes extremely well with any kind of chutney of your choice.
Preparation time – 10 min
Cooking time – 20 min
Makes – 15 bondas approx
Ingredients:
Maida/All purpose flour – 1 cup
Rice flour – 1/4 cup
Cumin seeds/jeera – 1/2 tsp
Baking soda – 1/2 tsp
Yogurt – 1/2 cup
Ginger – 1 tsp,finely chopped
Green chilies – 1 tbsp, finely chopped
Curry leaves – 1 tbsp, finely chopped
Salt – as required
Oil – required for deep frying
Water – as required
Preparation:
- In a mixing bowl add in maida/all purpose flour, rice flour, cumin seeds, salt, baking soda, finely chopped ginger, green chilies,curry leaves and mix well.
- Now add in yogurt, water as required and mix well until the batter reaches a dropping consistency. Set aside the mixture.
- Heat oil for deep frying. Once the oil is hot, gently drop in small balls of the batter in the hot oil.
- Keeping the flame on medium heat, fry the bondas well on all the sides till they turn golden in colour.
- Remove them from the oil and place it on a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Enjoy them hot with chutney of your choice.
