Mysore Bonda

Mysore Bonda is one of the popular snack which is served in most of the restaurants in Southern part of India. These bondas are prepared using maida/all purpose flour, yogurt and few other spices. These fried dumplings are crispy on outside and soft inside. It is a very easy recipe which is perfect for snacks/appetizers and it is usually served with Coconut chutney, but it goes extremely well with any kind of chutney of your choice.

Preparation time – 10 min

Cooking time – 20 min

Makes – 15 bondas approx

Ingredients:

Maida/All purpose flour – 1 cup

Rice flour – 1/4 cup

Cumin seeds/jeera – 1/2 tsp

Baking soda – 1/2 tsp

Yogurt – 1/2 cup

Ginger – 1 tsp,finely chopped

Green chilies – 1 tbsp, finely chopped

Curry leaves – 1 tbsp, finely chopped

Salt – as required

Oil – required for deep frying

Water – as required

Preparation:

  1. In a mixing bowl add in maida/all purpose flour, rice flour, cumin seeds, salt, baking soda, finely chopped ginger, green chilies,curry leaves and mix well.
  2. Now add in yogurt, water as required and mix well until the batter reaches a dropping consistency. Set aside the mixture.
  3. Heat oil for deep frying. Once the oil is hot, gently drop in small balls of the batter in the hot oil.
  4. Keeping the flame on medium heat, fry the bondas well on all the sides till they turn golden in colour.
  5. Remove them from the oil and place it on a paper towel to drain any excess oil. Enjoy them hot with chutney of your choice.
