Chicken Capsicum gravy

This chicken dish is a delicious mix of chicken, capsicum (green peppers/bell peppers ), onions and tomatoes in a creamy sauce. Capsicum Chicken Gravy is a creamy curry tastes good with any roti, poori or even just plain rice. It is easy to prepare, this deliciously tasty chicken dish is ideal for any occasion.

Preparation time – 20 minutes
Cooking time – 30 minutes
Serves – 4

Ingredients:

Boneless chicken – 2 lbs cut into pieces
Capsicum / green pepper/ bell pepper – 2
Medium size Onions – 2 chopped into fine pieces
Medium size tomatoes – 4
Ginger & Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp or as per your taste
Coriander/dhaniya  powder – 1 tbsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Tomato ketchup – 1 tbsp or 1 tsp of sugar
Cashews or Almonds paste – 2 tbsp
Oil – 1/4 cup
Coriander leaves  – few for garnishing
Salt as per your taste

Method:

1. Grind the tomatoes and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan. Add onions and fry till it gets slightly browned . Now add ginger & garlic paste and fry till the raw smell has gone.

2. Add tomato puree into the pan. Stir for few till the mixture gets thicker. Now add the other spices (turmeric,coriander,chilli and garam masala). Stir the mixture for another 5 minutes on medium heat. Keep stirring so that the mixture doesn’t get burned at the bottom.

3. Add the chicken pieces into the masala and fry till the chicken is well cooked. Add some salt. Once the chicken is cooked add the chopped capsicum/green pepper and stir for another few minutes.

4. . Now  add 2 tbsp of cashews/almonds paste with a cup of water and  mix it. When the gravy gets thicker, add 1 tbsp of ketchup or 1 tsp of sugar into the gravy. Let it boil for few minutes. Adjust the salt and the consistency as per your taste. If the gravy is too thick add little water.

5. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Delicious chicken capsicum gravy is ready to serve with Roti or pulav!!
