Palak Paneer is a vegetarian dish which is originated from Punjab. It is one of the most popular dish in Indian Cuisine. It is creamy and delicious which is prepared using spinach and paneer cubes along with other spices. It is usually served with roti or naan.

Serves – 4 to 6
Ingredients:
PaneerĀ cubes – 400 g
Spinach / Palak – 170 g or 6 ounces
Onion – 1 medium sized finely chopped
Ginger & Garlic paste – 1 tsp
Tomatoes – 2 tomatoes pureed
Cumin seeds / Jeera – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Chili powder – 1/2 tsp or as per your taste
Salt – as per your taste
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Kasoori methi / Dried fenugreek leaves – 1/2 tsp crushed finely
Garam Masala powder – 1/2 tsp
Bay leaf -2
Oil – 1 tbsp (required for pan frying)
Method:
1. Wash the spinach/palak well. In a large pan add 2 cups of water and allow it to boil. Now add in the spinach/palak and cook it for 3 to 5 minutes uncovered. Transfer the spinach/palak to a plate and allow it cool down. Once it is cool down put that in a mixie/blender and grind it to a smooth paste and set aside.


2. Heat up 1 tbsp of oil in a pan. Add in cumin seeds/jeera and saute just for 30 sec. Now add the bay leaf and the onions and cook till the onions becomes nice and soft. When the onions are cooked well add in the ginger & garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes away. Now add the puree of 2 tomatoes and cook well.
Add in all the dry spice powders (turmeric powder, salt, coriander powder and the chili powder) and cook well for 5 minutes on a medium flame. Keep stirring frequently.


3. Once the mixture is well cooked add the puree of spinach/palak along with some water and mix well. Allow it to boil for 5 minutes on a medium flame. Now add the garam masala powder and mix.


4. Add in the paneer cubes and stir gently. Let it cook on a medium flame just for 3 minutes. Add the kasoori methi/dry fenugreek leaves and mix well.
Adjust the salt and the consistency according to your taste.




The delicious Palak Paneer is all ready to enjoy with roti or naan.
