Alfredo Pasta

Penne Pasta cooked in white sauce along with vegetables is a creamy and cheesy dish. It is a quick and easy recipe which is perfect for evening snack or for dinner. It is one of the kids favorites.

Preparation time – 10 min
Cooking time – 25 min
Serves – 4

Ingredients:

Penne pasta – 2 cups
Broccoli – 1/4 cup
Red Bell peppers – 1/4 cup
Garlic – 1 clove finely chopped
Salt – as per your taste
Water – 5 cups to cook the pasta
Oil – 3 tsp

Ingredients required for White Sauce:

Butter – 3 tbsp
Maida/All purpose flour – 2 tbsp
Pepper powder – 1/2 tsp or as per your taste
Whole Milk – 2 cups
Parmesan Cheese grated – 3/4 cup
Garlic – 3 cloves finely chopped

Method:

1. Bring a big pot of water to a boil. Add pasta and salt and cook it as per the instructions on the box. Drain the pasta and rinse well in cold water and set aside.

2. In a heavy bottom pan add in 3 tbsp of butter and melt it. Add the all purpose flour and whisk well so that it doesn’t form any lumps. Saute for a minute stirring frequently so that it doesn’t change the color.

3. Add in the milk and mix well. Add in garlic and allow the milk to boil well stirring constantly. When the milk thickens keep the flame on medium and add in the pepper powder and cheese and mix well. Keep mixing until the cheese is melted and the sauce thickens. Set aside the sauce.

4. In a pan add in 3 tsp of oil. Now add the garlic, chopped broccoli and red bell pepper. Saute for 3 min and add the cooked pasta and mix. Add in the white sauce and mix well till the pasta is well coated with the sauce. Adjust the salt as per your taste.

The creamy and cheesy Pasta is ready.
