Vazhakkai / Raw Banana Roast

This is a quick and easy side dish preparation. It tastes delicious and crispy.  It goes very well with  rasam rice, sambar rice and yogurt  rice.

Preparation time – 10 minutes
Cooking time – 20 minutes
Serves – 2

Ingredients:

Raw banana – 2
Chopped onion pieces –  2 tbsp
Dry red chilies – 2 or as per your taste
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Garlic – 2 pods
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves – few
Salt as per your taste

Method:

1. Peel the raw banana/vazhakkai and slice into round pieces. Grind onions,red chilies,garlic and Cumin seeds in a mixer. Mix the ground paste & turmeric powder and salt with raw banana slices.
2. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. After it starts spluttering add curry leaves and add the raw banana mixture.

  

3. Cook the vegetable on a medium heat. Cover the pan and cook. Flip the raw banana slices until it gets roasted on both the sides.

  

Spicy vazhakkai/raw banana roast is ready to serve with your favorite dish.

It is a great accompaniment for Lemon rice, Tomato rice and Tamarind rice
