Cabbage and green peas rice is a delicious recipe which can be served as a main dish. It is very simple to make and it is great for busy people and bachelors. This rice is mild in flavor and it goes well with plain yogurt or raita.

Cooking time – 25 min
Serves – 4 to 6
Ingredients:
Cabbage – 1 cup chopped into small pieces
Green peas – 1/2 cup
Salt – as per your taste
Garam masala powder – 1/4 tsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
Rice – 1 cup
Water – 1 1/2 cups
Coriander leaves – few finely chopped
Curry leaves (optional) – few finely chopped
To grind:
Onion – 1 medium sized chopped
Green chilies – 6 or 7
Garlic – 5
Ginger – 1/2 inch
Coconut – 3 tbsp
Bay leaf – 2
Cinnamon – 1/4 inch
Cloves – 3
Cardamon – 3
Fennel seeds – 1/4 tsp
Method:
1. In a mixie/blender grind all the ingredients under the grind section to a coarse paste and keep aside.


2. In a pressure pan add in 2 tbsp of oil and allow it to heat up. When the oil is hot add in the ground mixture and saute well for 10 min till the raw smell goes away. Add in the chopped cabbage and the green peas and mix well. Add salt (as per your taste) and mix well. Saute for 5 minutes on a medium flame.


3. Once everything is well mixed with the masala add in the 1 cup of rice and the 1 1/2 cups of water and mix well. Add the garam masala powder and mix. Cover the pressure pan and let it whistle for 2 times and switch off the stove. Allow the pressure to go down completely. Remove the lid and let the rice cool down for some time.



4. Add in the finely chopped coriander leaves and the curry leaves and mix the rice gently.
