Butter Chicken is one of the most well known Indian dish around the world. This dish is originally from Punjabi Cuisine. This delicious butter chicken is made out of mild creamy tomato sauce. You can make this restaurant style butter chicken at home using simple ingredients! Let us learn how to make this delicious butter chicken curry.

Serves – 4
Ingredients:
Boneless Chicken – 2 ( cut into pieces)
Medium size onion – 1 chopped into small pieces
Medium size red tomato – 3 chopped into pieces
Ginger Garlic paste – 2 tsp
Cashew nuts – 10
Yogurt – 3 tbsp
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Cinnamon – 1/2 inch
Cardamom – 2
Clove – 2
Kasoori methi ( dry fenugreek) leaves – 1 tsp
Orange color – a pinch (optional)
Butter – 3 tbsp
Tomato ketchup or sugar – 1 tbs
Oil – 1/4 cup
Salt as per your taste
Method:
1. Marinate the chicken pieces with salt, chili powder and a tsp of ginger & garlic paste for an hour or two.Heat oil in a pan and add marinated chicken, fry for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the chicken and keep aside.
2. After removing the chicken, add cinnamon,cardamom and cloves into the same pan. Then add the onions and ginger garlic paste and fry for few minutes. Now add the tomatoes,coriander powder and garam masala powder.
3. Fry the mixture till the tomatoes gets smashed well. You can add little water into the mixture. Let it boil for few minutes. Switch off the stove. Let it cool down. Grind the mixture along with cashews to a fine paste.
4. In a pan add the ground paste along with 2 cups of water. Beat the yogurt well and add it to the pan. Mix well and add in the chicken pieces. Add a pinch of orange color, if needed. Let the gravy boil until it thickens.
5. Finally add crushed kasoori methi, tomato ketchup and butter. After few minutes turn off the stove. Add cream at the end and mix well.
